CDU – College of Medicine Scholarship Grants

Dr. Potenciano V. Larrazabal Jr. Academic Scholarship in Medicine

Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine is offering a four-year scholarship grant to a maximum of five students every year who have enrolled in the Level I of the Doctor of Medicine program at Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine (CDU-CM), subject to the criteria and conditions set forth below. Each scholarship grant shall be equal to the grantee’s yearly tuition and miscellaneous fees. The five scholarship grantees shall be those with the five highest weighted averages for Level I among those who qualify for the grant based on the criteria and conditions stated below.

Criteria for Selection of Scholars

  • The grantee must have enrolled as a Level I student of Cebu Doctors’ University College of Medicine.
  • The grantee must be a Filipino citizen.
  • The grantee’s pre-medical course General Weighted Average (GWA) must be 1.7500 or better.
  • The grantee must have submitted a Certificate of good moral character from the Guidance Office of the last school attended.
  • The grantee must not be enjoying any pre-need educational plan nor be a recipient of any other educational grant or scholarship (except CDU-CM Entrance Scholarship).
  • The grantee must be willing to serve as a resident physician of Kauswagan Community Clinic and Social Center when called upon to do so for at least 12 months (with compensation) after availing of the scholarship for 4 years and passing the Physician Licensure Examination.

Conditions of the Grant 

(evaluation to be done at the end of every Academic Year)

  • Weighted average of at least 85.0000 for the Academic Year under review
  • Must have maintained a full load during the Academic Year
  • Must not have obtained a grade lower than 80 in any subject
  • Must not have been given any adverse disciplinary action or have any derogatory record
  • Once the scholarship is lost, it can no longer be regained.

Benefits of the Grant

(evaluation to be done at the end of every Academic Year)

  • Full scholarship (100% discount on tuition and miscellaneous fees) for one year, renewable on a yearly basis if all criteria for maintaining the scholarship are fulfilled

    • The amount paid by the grantee for his tuition and miscellaneous fees for Level I shall be refunded to him or her upon fulfillment of the conditions of the grant stated above at the end of Level I. This is also applicable to recipients of CDU-CM Entrance Scholarships.

    • For subsequent year levels, the grantee shall no longer pay tuition and
      miscellaneous fees as long as the scholarship is maintained.

  • Recognition during commencement exercises upon graduation, if the scholarship had been
    enjoyed for the entire 4 years:

    • Certificate of Recognition

    • Medal of Recognition

    • Stethoscope

  • Assurance of a position in Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital for Post-graduate Internship and for residency training in the clinical department of his or her choice.
