Philip Anthony S.D. Larrazabal, MD, MBA
President and Chairman of the Board
Dr. Philip Anthony S.D. Larrazabal is the youngest son of the former president of Cebu Doctors’ University, Dr. Potenciano V. Larrazabal, Jr. with Mrs. Zenaida S.D. Larrazabal. Seeing how his father could be so dedicated in his profession as a doctor and as a teacher, Dr. Philip Anthony envisioned to be a doctor himself.
He earned his pre-medical education of Bachelor of Sciences in Physical Therapy here in Cebu Doctors’ University under the College of Rehabilitative Sciences. He graduated with Latin honors of Cum Laude on 1990. He continued his medical education in the same university and graduated in 1994, still, with Latin honors of Cum Laude.
He proceeded with his post graduate internship at Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital for a year. After his internship, he took the Physicians Licensure Examination on August, 1995 which he successfully passed and ranked 16th of the successful examinees of the country.
Dr. Philip pours out his interest in specializing General Radiology. So after successfully passing and topping the licensure examinations for physicians, he had his residency for the said specialization in Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital in 1996-1998. He later on earned his Board of Certification Specializing Diagnostic Radiology on February 27, 1999.
He continued his journey to becoming a full-fledged doctor as he flew off to the University of Arkansas Medical Science in the United States to have his CT Scan Fellowship Training and continued the same training in Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital in the year 2000.
Dr. Philip believes to better serve his patients, he has to continue to equip himself with better learnings in his specialization, thus earning his certification for his specialty in Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging on February 16, 2002.
Taking notes from other fellow radiologists would add up to his learnings. Thus, later on, he became a member of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry from October 13, 2007 to October 13, 2012. As a member, he is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist. He is also a fellow of the Philippine College of Radiology Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging Society of the Philippines and a member of the Philippine Medical Association Cebu Medical Society up to this date.
At present, Dr. Philip Anthony Larrazabal shares his visions for Cebu Doctors’ University and San Lorenzo Ruiz College of Ormoc being the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors for both schools. He is also a member of the Board and the treasurer for the CebuDoc Group of Hospitals which includes the Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, Mactan Doctors’ Hospital, South General Hospital, North General Hospital, Ormoc Doctors’ Hospital and San Carlos Doctors’ Hospital.
At his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family. He often travels with them to different destinations across the globe.
